The action
Pass One On
Pick one, give it, and keep it private. Then, if you want, share the page.
Pick one piece
Choose something clean, undamaged and wearable right now. A good test: would you give it to a friend without apologizing for it? One piece is enough. More is fine if the organization says it wants more.
Find someone to give it to
Two good routes. Pick whichever fits.
Through a local organization. Search for a clothing closet, shelter, school family-resource program or community aid group near you. Call or check their website for what they are accepting, in which sizes and during which hours.
“Hi, I have a clean, gently worn [jacket / pair of shoes / other item]. Is that something you could use right now, and when can I drop it off?”Directly to a person. Someone you know, or someone who has told you they need it. Ask first and accept a no. Let them choose whether they want it and what suits them.
Hand it over
With an organization, go during their hours and give it to a person, not a doorstep, and never leave bags outside a closed building. If they say no, thank them and ask if another group nearby might need it. With a person, give it privately and kindly, with no audience and no photos.
Optional: share the page
If you want, send this page to a friend so they can pass one on too.
Pass One On is a suggestion from Offside Mode Community. We do not collect your name, your gift or your location, and we are not affiliated with any organization or person you choose to give to.
Before you go
- Ask first. Needs change by season and by week, and so do preferences.
- No photos, no proof, no telling others. Giving is private.
- Check fit and condition: no stains, tears, broken zippers or strong odors.
- Wash it. Fold it.
- Give what you would be glad to receive.
